Flat anti-reflective sapphire crystal 1.5 mm

This version of the 1.5 mm flat sapphire has an anti-reflective coating. It comes in one diameter only, 23.5 mm: a targeted item, to choose when your measurement falls exactly on this value.

Who this crystal is for

A 23.5 mm diameter is often found on smaller watches, ladies' watches or compact models. The anti-reflective coating generally suits those who want a dial that is easier to read in daylight, or who are replacing an original crystal that was already coated.

What anti-reflective coating changes

The coating reduces reflections on the surface of the crystal: the dial is easier to read in direct light and the crystal looks more discreet. Its effect depends on the lighting and viewing angle.

Sapphire, with its strengths and limitations

• Hardness: 9 on the Mohs scale, making it a highly scratch resistant crystal.
• Fragility: more brittle than mineral under a violent impact.
• Price: higher than an ordinary crystal, here €22.90.
• Fitting: generally press fitted, with a gasket.

Checking compatibility

As there is only one diameter, the measurement is decisive. Using a calliper, measure the diameter of the old crystal at several points: the value must match 23.5 mm.
