Polishing a watch crystal with diamond paste

Diamond paste is a polishing abrasive packed in a syringe, which makes it easy to dispense small, precise amounts. It is used to reduce scratches and bring back shine to a surface. This paste is offered in 9 grits, from 0.25 to 10.0 µm: select the one you need in the table on this page.

How to choose the grit

The smaller the grit (expressed in microns, µm), the finer the finish. The larger it is, the more material the paste removes.

• 7.0 and 10.0 µm grits: pre-polishing pastes for mineral crystals, to work on marked scratches.
• Intermediate grits, from 1.5 to 5.0 µm: refining the surface after pre-polishing.
• Finest grits, from 0.25 to 1.0 µm: finishing and shine.

For a clean result, work in several passes, starting with the coarsest grit required and moving gradually down to the fine grits. Clean the surface between grits so the abrasives do not mix.

Tips for use

• Clean the crystal before starting and protect the case around it.
• Apply a small amount of paste and polish with a clean soft cloth or a suitable tool.
• For an acrylic (plexiglass) crystal, use a dedicated polishing cream such as Polywatch instead.
