At 4.0 mm thick, this flat crystal is intended for specific cases: diving watches, sports watches with a bulky case or watches whose crystal must withstand stress. It is found mainly on large diameters, as reflected by the range from 25.0 mm to 50.0 mm. Before choosing it, make sure your current crystal really is this thick: a crystal that is too tall can prevent the bezel from closing properly.
Mineral crystal has a hardness of about 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale. At 4.0 mm it is very rigid, at a far lower cost than sapphire. Its surface is, however, more prone to scratches than sapphire. See the differences between materials on our page about crystal types.
