Flat sapphire crystal 0.8 mm

A thin sapphire for slim cases

At 0.8 mm, this flat crystal is one of the thinnest sapphires in our range. It generally suits dress watches and ultra-thin cases, where the bezel leaves little height above the dial. It is often found on ladies' watches, thanks to small diameters starting at 13.0 mm, but the range goes up to 41.5 mm for larger models.

What sapphire offers, and what it requires

Synthetic sapphire reaches a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale. In everyday wear it is therefore highly scratch-resistant: keys, desks or metal bracelets very rarely mark it. On the other hand:

• it is more brittle than a mineral crystal under a hard knock, and a 0.8 mm thickness needs careful handling when fitting;
• it costs more than mineral or acrylic;
• it is usually press-fitted, with a gasket suited to the case.

Taking the right measurements

Remove the old crystal and measure it with a calliper: the diameter across two perpendicular axes, then the thickness at the edge. A difference of 0.1 mm is enough to make fitting difficult, hence the need for precise measurement. Our measuring guide explains the method step by step. If you are unsure of the original material, see our page on the types of crystal.

This model comes in 180 diameters, 3 of them in stock; the others are available to order. Prices range from €14.90 to €62.90 depending on size.
