Flat sapphire crystal 0.9 mm

The 0.9 mm flat sapphire crystal stands out for its closely spaced range of diameters: 104 sizes between 21.1 mm and 33.5 mm. This density is useful when your measurement falls between two common values and a standard crystal would be too loose or too tight.

Intended use

This range mainly corresponds to medium-sized men's or unisex wristwatches. The 0.9 mm thickness generally suits slim cases whose bezel takes a fairly discreet flat crystal, and is often found on dress watches.

Sapphire: strengths and precautions

Rated 9 on the Mohs scale, sapphire is virtually scratchproof in normal use and keeps its clarity over the years. Bear in mind, however, that:

• its hardness comes with a certain fragility: a violent impact can crack it where mineral crystal would hold up better;
• it costs more than mineral crystal, here between €39.90 and €50.90;
• it is generally press fitted, with a gasket in good condition.

Measure before ordering

Using a calliper, measure the diameter of the old crystal to a tenth of a millimetre, at several points to detect any out of roundness. Then measure its thickness: if it is close to 0.9 mm, this model is the right starting point. The full procedure is described in our measuring guide.
